If you are looking to get a new ASUS UL30A, you might want to learn that there’s 2 different models, one with a 4,400 mA battery and the other, with 5,400 mA battery. These two batteries are identical, both 8-cell batteries but the 5,400 mA battery is rated for 16 hours while the other is at 12 hours.
If you look carefully on Amazon’s site, you will find that ASUS UL30A-A2 specifically has this description:
Powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo ultra-low voltage processor, it boasts an impressive 16-hour battery life for all-day computing.
While the ASUS UL30A-X5 has this:
Powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo ultra-low voltage processor, it boasts an impressive 12.5-hour battery life for all-day computing.
So we know it’s a typo-error on Amazon’s part and we have confirmed that one of the ASUS units are indeed rated for 16 hours, thus higher pricing.
If you are going to purchase it at retail stores, make sure to get the 16-hour battery life for this laptop otherwise, you might do better buying it online.
Btw, this is probably the longest battery life for the price you pay for any 13-inch laptop period. I will be getting an ASUS UL30A-A2 myself real soon so I will have an updated hands-on video review.
