This is ridiculous. The slight malfunction of a Google service has absolutely nothing to do with Google's reliability when it comes to storing your data.

Have you _ever_ seen Google down? Google doesn't go down. Like Plasma said, Google's hosting is highly redundant. One server may go down, maybe even a couple can go down at once. But Google stays up, because of the redundancy of their hosting.

The incident with Google reporting every site as harmful was a programming error; a bug. A small bug in a Google service doesn't mean Google's hosting is unreliable. That's like saying you stole a cookie from the cookie jar, so now I can't trust you ever again; how do I know you're not going to lie to me in the future?

Google isn't perfect, but they have one of the most reliable data storage and serving systems in the world. Reliability isn't their problem.

"You go to work, launch your browser, only to discover that Google is down, taking your presentation with it."

Then I pull up that offline copy I have thanks to google gears.

Google has probably saved my butt from countless crashes by warning me of infected pr0n sites.

You should not trust google, per se, but trust the massively redundant nature of their data backup systems, located in multiple geographic locations.

If something is really important, like a presentation, store it in the could *and* keep a copy on your jump drive just in case.
